SPITI - A SAFARI | BARALACHA CHANDRATAL TREK

Baralacha Chandratal Trek

AREA: HIMACHAL PRADESH
DURATION : 12 - 13 Days
TRIP GRADE : Moderately demanding.
SEASON : Mid June/July- September

Orchards, fields, rushing rivers, alpine meadows, high passes, spectacular mountains. Some good high mountain trekking . Drive from the green hills of the Kullu valley across the 3978m high Rohtang Pass into the stark splendor of the Lahaul valley. The roaring Chandra & Bhaga rivers, mud skirted mountains in rainbow colours, sparkling streams and waterfalls, sudden green alpine meadows. Sheer slopes of shimmering scree where the trail fades to a whisper and towering above battlemented mountains and their eternal snows. Trek from the 5100m high BaraLacha Pass down to the Chandra Tal lake lying dreaming in it's hollow. The meadows around it fill with flowers as snows recede. The Brahmini duck breeds here and the nomadic shepherds (the Gaddis) rest their herds on their trail further north. Return back across the Rohtang pass to Manali .
