Deorital Chopta Expedition
AREA: Garhwal Himalaya
DURATION : 4 or 7 Days
GRADE : Moderate
SEASON : October, November & February through Mid May
The trek area is one of the lesser frequented, very lovely parts of the Garhwal Himalaya. Lying between the great pilgrim spots of Kedarnath and Badrinath - many lesser, but quite as historic temples are hidden here. The trek starts from Okhimat, a steep ascent to the beautiful Deoria tal lake through thickly wooded forest of oak, pine and rhododendron. Deoria tal lies amidst rolling meadows under the shadow of the great Chaukhamba massif, come down from the lake and we camp at the beautiful meadows of Chopta, from here we trek upto the highest temple in the area, Tungnath. The trek ends and we start on the rafting section of the trip after driving down to the OAI base camp which is located on a large river beach on the Forested banks of the Ganga river.
